INTRODUCTION OF COMPETITIVE EXAM

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board

The west Bengal joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed as west Bengal Board of Examination for Admission to Engineering Degree Colleges in the year 1962, born out of a concept of holding a common admission test for the Engineering colleges of the State of West Bengal. The basic purpose was to select candidates for consideration for admission to the State Colleges on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination, which would also lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests.

Notice of admission to Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) in West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences for the academic session 2011-12 through Joint Entrance Test – 2011 to be conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

Date of Examination : Sunday, 8th  May, 2011.

Eligibility Criteria :
 
(a) Candidates must be citizens of India and have attained 17 years of age as on 1st July, 2011. There is no upper age limit.
 
(b) Educational Qualification : General Candidates must have passed H.S. (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination recognized by the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences with individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Vernacular (or any other fifth subject) along with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the said qualifying examination (10+2). In respect of SC and ST candidates the aforesaid marks will be 40% instead of 50%. The candidates appearing in (10+2) Examination, 2011 and subsequently fulfilling the above criteria are also eligible to appear in EVETS-2011.
 
Examination and Question Pattern : A written test will be conducted in Paper – I : Biological Sciences – 100 marks; Paper – II : Physics & Chemistry  – 100 marks. Questions will be of MCQ type.

Residential Criteria : Candidates must have been residing in the State of West Bengal uninterruptedly for a minimum period of 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2010 or their  parents must be permanent residents of West Bengal having their permanent home addresses in the State of West Bengal.

Reservation ::  Reservation for SC/ST / PC (Physically Challenged) candidates will be as per State Government rules.

Application : Prescribed Application Form and Information Booklet will be available w.e.f. 15.02.2011 to 18.03.2011 from the Branch Offices of UNITED BANK OF INDIA at  Jadavpur, Sealdah, Hatibagan, BESUS - Howrah, Serampore, Bankura, Bardhaman, Durgapur City Centre, Medinipur, Tamluk, Krishnagar, Berhampore, Malda, Coochbehar, Siliguri, Purulia, Birbhum (Suri), Raigunj and Jalpaiguri on all working days on  payment of Rs. 350/- in CASH.
   
Application Form along with Information Brochure is also available from the Office of the BOARD through Postal request only on or before 04.03.2011 by sending a Bank Draft of Rs. 450/- (Application form Rs. 350/- + Speed Post and other charges Rs. 100/-) drawn in favour of ‘WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD’ payable at Kolkata to reach the completed form to the office of the Board through Speed Post on or before  25.03.2011. Application forms may also be obtained from the Board’s Office by hand only on payment of late fee of Rs. 100/- only in addition to the actual cost of the form Rs. 350/- is to be paid through Bank draft to be drawn in favour of “WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD” payable at Kolkata/Howrah from 21.03.2011 to 22.03.2011 The Application form once purchased cannot be returned or replaced.
