Q1. What is the new scheme of engineering entrance examination ?
Ans. It has been decided to hold a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) from the year 2013 for admission to the undergraduate programmes in Engineering in two parts, JEE-MAIN and JEE-ADVANCED. Only the top 1,50,000 candidates based on performance in JEE MAIN will qualify to appear in the JEE ADVANCED examination. Admissions to IITs will be based only on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE ADVANCED, subject to condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile (category wise) in their respective Boards/Qualifying Examinations.Admission to NITs will be based on 40 % weightage for performance in Class XII board/ equivalent examination marks (normalized) and the remainder 60 % weightage would be given to performance in JEE Main and a combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly.The policy could also be adopted by other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and participating Institutions.In case any State opts to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to state Universities and requires separate merit list to be provided based on relative weightages adopted by the states, the merit list shall be prepared with such relative weightages as may be indicated by States.

Q.2 What will be admission criteria for IITs and ISM Dhanbad ?
Ans. Only the top 150000 candidates (including all categories) based on performance in JEE MAIN will qualify to appear in the JEE ADVANCED examination. Admissions to IITs will be based only on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE ADVANCED, subject to condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile (category wise) in their respective Boards/Qualifying Examinations.

Q.3 What will be admission criteria for NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs ?
Ans. Admission to NITs will be based on 40 % weightage for total marks obtained in Class XII board/ equivalent exam (normalized) and 60% weightage to performance in JEE Main. A combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly. The policy could also be adopted by other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) & participating Institutions. In Maharashtra also admission to state engineering colleges will be given through JEE(Mains).

Q.4 What will be admission criteria for State Engineering Colleges ?
Ans. In case any State opt to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to state Universities and requires separate merit list to be provided based on relative weightages adopted by the states, the merit list shall be prepared with such relative weightages as may be indicated by States.

Q.5 I want to improve my Class XII results. Can I do in two subjects ?
Ans. If you want to improve your performance in Board’s Exam, you can do so but for consideration of that year’s result you have to appear in all the subjects (as per the scheme of studies of your Board, 5 subjects in case of CBSE ) and not partially. You cannot improve in one/two subjects and add them to previous years’ performance.

Q.6 What will be the eligibilty criteria for candidates who have qualified their 10+2 examination in 2012?
Ans. In respect of those students who passed their Board exam for the first time in 2012, the eligibility criteria for joining any of the IITs or ISM Dhanbad will be 60% marks in their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). For those candidates who appear in their Board exams for the first time in 2013, the eligibility criteria will remain ‘top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in their Boards, category-wise. This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only. For those students who passed their 12th Board exams in 2012 but are re-appearing in the 2013 Board exams with a view to improve their performance, 60% rule will apply if they use their 2012 Board exam results and ‘top 20 percentile’ rule will apply if they use their 2013 Board exam results. This too will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

Q.7 Do the students have to pay a single application fee for both JEE (Main) – 2013 as well as for JEE (Advanced) – 2013?
Ans. No. The top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories) who qualify, with their respective category wise cut-off scores in JEE (Main) – 2013, and are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2013 have to register themselves through JEE (Advanced) – 2013 website. On completion of the registration process, a challan for fee payment through the bank will be automatically generated.

Q.8 Would the percentile marks/ranking be based on Science stream or on all the subjects?
Ans. It will be based on all the subjects of the qualifying examination (QE).

Q.9 I appeared in JEE - 2011 and IIT JEE - 2012. Will I be eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?
Ans. No. You are not eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2013 even if you are one of the top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories), who qualify with their respective category wise cut-off scores in JEE (Main) – 2013, and are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013. However, if you have appeared in IIT-JEE 2012 only subject to its conditions then you are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013.

Q.10 I appeared in JEE - 2011, but did not appear in IIT JEE - 2012? Am I be eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013 once I qualify in JEE (Main) - 2013?
Ans. No. You are not eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2013 even if you are one of the top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories), who qualify with their respective category wise cut-off scores in JEE (Main) – 2013, and are eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013.

Q.11 I qualified in IIT JEE – 2012 and I paid Rs.40000/20000, but did not join a programme at any of the institutes. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Q.12 I appeared in IIT JEE-2012 and did not qualify, but based on my performance in IIT JEE-2012 examination, I got an admission offer for a course in ISM Dhanbad. I accepted the offer and paid the required fee but I did not join the allotted programme. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) - 2013, if I qualify in JEE (Main) – 2013?

Q.13 I passed 10+2 examination in 2012 and also qualified in IIT JEE-2012. I appeared for counselling for IIT JEE-2012 and was offered admission in one of the IITs/IT-BHU, Varanasi/ISM, Dhanbad, but did not pay Rs.40000/20000. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Q.14 I passed 10+2 examination in 2012 with less than minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). I took IIT JEE - 2012 and did not qualify. I will be appearing for a re-examination in the year 2013 so that I can obtain MMQE. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Now I will be appearing for a re-examination in the year 2013 so that I can improve the percentage of aggregate marks to be in top 20 percentile of my examination. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Q.16 I appeared and passed 10+2 examination in 2011 and got less than minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). I appeared for an improvement examination of 10+2 in the year 2012 and obtained aggregate marks which made me eligible to attempt JEE. I took IIT JEE-2012 but could not qualify. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Q.19 I appeared in 10+2 examination in 2011 and got less than minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE) in the aggregate. I wrote JEE-2011 but did not qualify. I took 10+2 examination in 2012 and got more than the MMQE. I took IIT JEE-2012 but did not qualify. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Q.22 My qualifying examination was conducted in 2011. The results were announced after 30th September 2011, and I got minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). I did not attempt JEE-2011 or IIT JEE-2012. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

Q.26 I am a NRI/PIO/OCI/ foreign national. Does JEE (Advanced) – 2013 give me any special treatment for admission?
Ans. No. Also all OCI/PIO/NRI applicants have to satisfy the eligibility conditions meant for the GE candidates. The candidate has to appear in JEE (Main) – 2013 Paper-1 and has to qualify to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013.

Q.27 I am studying in a foreign country and the diploma/certificate I will get is not in the qualifying examination list in the JEE (Advanced) – 2013 information brochure/website.What should I do?
Ans. You have to provide a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, when you turn in your completed application form, stating that the diploma/certificate you will receive is equivalent to the 10+2 system of Indian Boards.

Q.28 I appeared for JEE-2012 and qualified. I got an admission offer in an IIT/IT-BHU/ISM Dhanbad based on my JEE-2012 All India Rank (AIR). After accepting the admission offer my 10+2 Examination results were declared and I failed to obtain the required minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). As a consequence my admission was terminated on 30th September 2012. Am I eligible to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?

After accepting the admission offer my 10+2 Examination results were declared and I failed to obtain the minimum marks for qualifying examination (MMQE). As a consequence my admission was terminated on 30th September 2012. Am I eligible to claim refund of my registration fee?
Ans No.

Q.30 What is the registration fees for candidates who take the JEE (Advanced) – 2013 examination in Dubai centre?
Ans. The registration fees for JEE (Advanced) - 2013 for candidates who opt for the Dubai Centre is US$ 200.00 (two hundred only in US dollars) for all categories

Q.31 A candidate who qualified AIEEE in 2012 and admitted in NITs and wants to write JEE (Advanced) - 2013. Does he need to write JEE (Main) – 2013?
Ans. Yes. He needs to write the Paper-1 of JEE (Main) - 2013. If selected within the top 1,50,000 (including all categories), the candidate will be able to write the JEE (Advanced) – 2013.

Q.32 How will I know whether I am qualified to write JEE (Advanced) – 2013?
Ans. The list of 1,50,000 qualified candidates (including all categories) of Paper-1 of JEE (Main) - 2013 will be available at the IIT Delhi website: http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in once the result is announced by CBSE.

Q.33 I am only interested to study B.Arch in IIT. Do I need to write only Paper-1 or only Paper-2, or both Paper-1 and Paper-2 of JEE (Main) – 2013?
Ans. All the candidates aspiring for undergraduate courses in IIT (irrespective of any branch) should write Paper-1 of JEE (Main). If selected within the top 1,50,000 (including all categories), the candidate will be able to write the JEE (Advanced) - 2013. Moreover, candidates desirous of joining the B.Arch courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at all zonal IITs on 28th June 2013 (Friday). However the seat allotment will be done based on the JEE (Advanced) – 2013 rank only.

Q.34 Will the examination structure for JEE (Advanced)-2014 remain the same as in 2013?
Ans. No. The examination structure for JEE (Advanced) – 2014 and beyond may change. Details regarding this will be made available at a later date.

Q.35 How many attempts are there in JEE Main & JEE (Main+Advanced)?
Ans. There are 3 Attempts in JEE Main & 2 attempts in JEE (Main+Advanced).

Q.1 What does NEET(AIPMT) mean?
Ans. NEET(AIPMT) stands for All India Pre-Medical/Pre- Dental Entrance Test.

Q.2 What are the advantages of NEET(AIPMT)?
Ans.

  • MCQ pattern of questions (single response) would be followed for MBBS entrance.
  • It ensures equal opportunities for rural and financially weaker section of deserving aspirants.
  • Greater uniformity and convenient for all candidates across the country.
  • Avoids malpractices, and saves resources as well.
  • More importantly reservation of seats as applicable to the states is intact.
  • A student is sure to thrive with multiple career opportunities after his/her MBBS.

Q.3 Who is going to conduct NEET(AIPMT)?
Ans. NEET(AIPMT) will be conducted by Central board of secondryeducation(CBSE).

Q.4 Who is eligible to appear in NEET(AIPMT) ?
Ans. To be eligible to appear in NEET(AIPMT) one must pass intermediate examination with physics, chemistry biology/bio-technology and english with 50%(aggregate marks) but for SC/ST/OBC this minimum required marks are 40%. However a candidate whose result in not out on the date of examination can also appear for the examination, but before taking admission he/she must complete qualification.

Q.5 What is qualifying score for the NEET(AIPMT) ?
Ans. To qualify NEET(AIPMT) candidate must secure 50% marks in each section (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) separately. But for SC/ST/OBC candidates this score reduced at the level of 40%.

Q.6 Does intermediate marks or any thing else will have any waightage in preparing final admission list ?
Ans. No, Admission to All MBBS and BDS courses will be made solely on the basis of NEET(AIPMT) score.

Q.7 Will there be only All India merit list for the admission in MBBS courses ?
Ans. No, there will be one all India merit list and there will be respective states merit list too to make admission in state medical colleges.

Q.8 Will admission to AIIMS and JIPMER be through NEET(AIPMT) from 2014 onwards ?
Ans. No, Admission to AIIMS and JIPMER will be through the selection processes conducted by the Institutions concerned. No, AIIMS is kept out of NEET(AIPMT) as AIIMS was establish under different act that is why it will need an amendment in that act.

Q.9 Is AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) merging with NEET(AIPMT)-UG ?
Ans. Yes, from the academic year 2014-15 it would merge with NEET(AIPMT) UG Common Entrance Test. Students need to mention their choice for AFMC while filling the application form.

Q.10 What are the subjects and marks allocation (Pattern) ?
Ans. The Entrance Examination consists of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Blue/Black Ball Point Pen only. 45 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. .

Q.11 Is there any negative marking for incorrect response?

Ans. Each Item carries 4 marks. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks. For each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet.

Q.12 For how many attempts / numbers a student can appear for NEET(AIPMT) ?

Ans. There is no limit for number of attempts. However Eligibility for admission for MBBS/BDS courses will be subject to Medical Institutions/University.

Q.13 How can I apply for NEET(AIPMT) ?
Ans. There is only one mode for applying through Online.

Q.14 What is All-India quota and State quota seats?
Ans. 15% seats in Government Medical Colleges filled through the Counselling conducted by DGHS are All India quota seats. Seats filled through the counselling conducted by the State Counselling Authorities and Management Quota seats of Private Medical Colleges are under State Quota seats.

Q.15 What is the reservation criterion in NEET(AIPMT) 2014 ?
Ans. Reservation will be made as per following details in 15% All India quota:
(i) 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates.
(ii) 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates.
(iii) 27% seats are reserved for non-creamy layer OBC candidates.
(iv) 3% seats are reserved on horizontal basis for PH candidates.
